"St Agnes Hotel", St Agnes
Unloading was simplicity itself; park up on the insane 10 in 1 gradient, open the boot and stand clear. Then, having negotiated the Hillary steps, it was just the stage to contend with, an ice rink on loan from the Eden Project; health and safety regs need not apply.
A few technical hitches later, like no guitar, half a keyboard and a half cut bassist; let the night commence.
Whilst at half time the main danger appeared to be from blowing tumbleweed gettting tangled in the ladies feathers, by the second set things were just plain dangerous. Whipped into a frenzy by the band's loyal groupies, the suitably aroused crowd were giving it some, da band respondez and 2 or was it 3 encores later the night had quite literally morphed into some parallel otherworld.
All we had to do now was reverse the gear back through the assault course, with the added complication of being mobbed by a crowd who just couldn't get enough of us; and the DJ following.
We love you too St Agnes.
